The heart of person centred therapy

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

Carl Rogers, founder of person centred therapy

Talking and being truly heard lies at the heart of the therapeutic relationship. Sometimes this deep listening alone is enough to bring insight and awareness; at other times, different therapeutic interventions give you the courage and support to shift unhelpful thinking patterns, habits and behaviours.

01 · About therapy

Why therapy?

Often in life, we reach a point where we feel confused or overwhelmed by pressures and expectations, and the daily demands of work, education and family begin to feel heavy and difficult to manage alone.

Therapy begins with your desire for change. It may be about wanting to stop feeling anxious, stressed, worried, low in self esteem, depressed, guilty or ashamed, and finding a way forward that feels right for you. Through therapy, you can begin to let go of past patterns and behaviours, improve your relationship with yourself and others, build healthy self esteem and grow in confidence.

Therapy provides a safe and confidential space where you can openly share your worries and whatever is weighing on your mind. Together, we look at where you are now, identify what may be holding you back, and work towards your life goals and aspirations. You don’t have to face your life challenges alone or in isolation.

02 · About me

Compassionate, personalised, never one size fits all

My journey began over 20 years ago, working in a variety of educational settings alongside vulnerable children and their families from diverse backgrounds and cultures. During this time, I supported children and families experiencing challenges with behaviour, as well as helping families better understand children with autism, ADHD and other forms of neurodiversity.

Through this work, I developed a deep appreciation for the importance of compassion, understanding and seeing each child and family as unique. I learned to tailor my support to their individual needs, combining emotional support and education to help families navigate everyday challenges and develop a greater understanding of one another.

This experience led me to further education and training in mentoring and coaching, eventually becoming an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor over 11 years ago. I then established my private practice, where I offer a tailored, compassionate and personalised therapeutic approach, shaped by my lived experience, professional training and many years of working with adults and children from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

I believe therapy is not a one size fits all approach. We are all unique, our life journeys are different, and our upbringing, culture and experiences shape the way we think, feel and process information. My aim is to offer a safe, welcoming and nonjudgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and supported in your own way.

03 · Where therapy can help

Whatever you’re carrying

For the past 10 years I have worked in private practice, education and various charities, supporting individuals across the lifespan, from children aged 5 to adults aged 77, from across diverse cultural backgrounds.

Support with anxiety, stress, burnout, overthinking, everyday pressure and feelings of not being good enough, building your resilience and helping you find a way forward that feels manageable.

A safe, supportive holding space to work through trauma, long standing depression, guilt, shame, and suicidal or paranoid thoughts, at a pace that is right for you.

Working through relationship and marriage challenges, separation, and family issues, improving your relationship with yourself and the people around you.

Compassionate support through pregnancy and postnatal related difficulties, fertility treatments, miscarriage, and bereavement.

Exploring cultural conflict and cultural differences within relationships, including how race, religion, culture, family values and wider social influences shape your internal dialogue and sense of self.

Life brings many transitions and changes as we move through its different stages: a change of career or relationship, identity, family life, loss and bereavement, uncertainty, or feeling disconnected from ourselves. Therapy can help you rebuild and develop your self esteem and confidence along the way.

Therapy can offer a supportive space to explore whatever you want to release, to rebuild your self esteem and confidence, and to reconnect with who you are as you move forward.

04 · Next steps

Taking the next step

The wounds in your mind are not visible like a wound on your body, but they deserve an equal amount of care and attention. Unseen thoughts, emotions and experiences can shape our decisions and cause us pain inwardly.

In therapy you do not need to face the pain alone. We can work together and gently heal, with awareness and understanding.
